Cable TV isn't dead ? it's content that's six feet under.

Even without the internet changing everything up, Cable TV has been changing for years. In the words of a man much wiser than me, it seems that content has reached a standstill, meaning there are more networks than there is demand for TV.

For example, every cable TV station must have something on the air at all times, otherwise they?ll lose money. But no network can have quality content at all times. The more you stretch out that equation, the more quality will drop, especially since the content needs to be cheaper and no one is watching anyway.

Do you remember fifteen, even ten years ago, you?d find actual history on the History Channel, actual learning on the Learning Channel, actual arts & entertainment on A&E or actual science fiction on Sci-Fi (before it was terribly renamed SyFy). But these days, cable TV offers things like Ice Road Truckers, Pawn Stars and other reality TV schlucking. This is the epitome of bottom feeding, when camera crews are so desperate for someone to do something interesting they?ll make shows about cupcakes and Gypsy weddings or just play things they found on YouTube.

Now you?d be hard-pressed to understand what any network name brand actually means. SyFy doesn?t always show Sci-Fi, History rarely, if ever, shows history and of course, the big one, there?s never any freaking music on MTV or MTV2 or VH1.

Why all this grubbing in the dirt? Everyone?s looking for a dollar these days and networks are desperate for sales. They could?ve focused on something a little less desperate than sensationalist ?reality? programs. And there are so many spin-offs it boggles the mind. First you make these people famous, then you make them turn into terrible people on screen (they call this drama in the industry ? I just call it idiotic) and then give them even more shows and more money.

Rumors that cable TV is dead are false ? people will be watching this crap until their eyeballs melt out of their head. The truth is that content is dead.
