Fun Family Games to Play While Watching Cable

It?s family night and you have just had dinner with your family and now it is time to go turn on your cable TV and watch your ?family shows?. Thanks to DVR and TEVO your show does not have to be on the specific night that you all gather and instead you can record the show that your entire family enjoys and watch it together. However, you want a way to liven up family night, have more laughs and bond with your family by playing games while watching your favorite shows. Here are some games that you can play while you enjoy family night:

Game Shows: If you?re watching game shows such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, or others you can play along with them. Get out a piece of paper and write all of your family?s names down and whenever someone gets something right you can give them a point and whoever gets the most points wins. Lucky for you if you get behind you can just use the pause function on your remote control (one of the many benefits) of cable TV.

The Word Game: If you are all settling down to watch a show like The Bachelorette or American Idol you can choose a word that they would normally say and every time the word comes up there are several things you can incorporate into the game such as:

1. Everyone touches their nose when they hear the word and the last person to touch their nose has to do a dare. (Everyone can come up with 5 dares, put them in a bowl and when the last person is left they have to draw from the bowl and do the dare.)

2. You can incorporate the game of spoons by every time the word is used everybody grabs a spoon and the person who gets no spoon is out, take away one spoon and wait for the word to be said again and keep going until the last person is holding the spoon is the winner.

Board games: If you are watching a show where you do not have to pay full attention, like singing shows, you can play board games, card games, dice and more during the show.

The good thing is that with family you do not have to worry if you feel like you are making a fool of yourself and you can come up with games to play while watching your favorite TV shows together. By doing this you are building memories, having fun, and bonding together. Cable TV helps bring families together and families are what makes having TV fun.
